These ice lands as the Vikings called the archipelago of Svalbard, they are less than 1000 km from the North Pole. Just this definition is enough to motivate my attraction to these Arctic lands. So in June 2012, I went back to the northwest coast of the largest island, Spitsbergen. This navigation was possible because this region is swept by the current of the North Atlantic (extension of the Gulf Stream) and the debacle is more and more precocious since 2008. Climate disruption, mild winter, sudden change of temperature, these observations and testimonials will be one of the goals of the expedition. The other great theme of this country is the Polar Bear, it is the North Atlantic area where there is the most. Although I will not have met him, he will have been present in my mind in all my actions.
